MoLab’s first mission

by Victoria | 4th June 2012

The newly developed ocean floor observatory, MoLab set off for its first mission destination: a cold water coral reef off the coast of northern Norway. At a depth of 220 to 350 meters it is one of the northernmost cold water coral reefs in Europe. MoLab will remain there for four months studying why corals grow here among other things. MoLab will let researchers investigate the interaction of multiple factors on the ocean floor inexpensively, flexibly and long term. Learn more about the mission at GEOMAR and in an article at physorg.com
